We are a passionate catering company in the region of Almeria in Southern Spain, located in the beautiful village of Bedar, providing catering for weddings and events as well as offering lunch and dinner in our new Cantina ,cooking creative modern food.
Pig and Fig Catering also operates a cookery school offering classes including tapas cookery sessions, modern Spanish food , canapes and seasonal masterclasses as well as a number of bespoke courses.
The cookery school has a stunning kitchen which has been designed by Christine and a local architect. Whilst the kitchen is used for preparing food for our new Cantina we also caterer for events and weddings, the kitchen has been carefully created so it can be used as a cookery school as well.
There are a number of classes which focus on the beautiful food of Spain capturing many typical dishes from the region but with a modern twist, students will be able to actively participate in the classes.
We pride ourselves in using local produce, mainly sourcing from the region of Almeria. We collaborate with these local sources to ensure all our client’s requirements are met to the highest standard.
Sarah’s Farm Produce
Sarah, with the help of her husband Martin, supply restaurants, caterers and the public in the local area with meat butchered into British cuts, meat cured with traditional methods and other homemade product such as smoked meats and cheese, sausages, black pudding, haggis, honey roast ham, pulled pork, corned beef, sliced ox tongue.
Their farm is also host to a small quantity of free-range poultry including turkeys, guinea fowl, pheasants, quail, chickens, ducks and geese.
The farm is situated inland in the stunning área of Velez Rubio with plenty of land for their poultry to roam freely.
The fishing boats leave Garrucha port early each day to fish the Mediterranean waters, they supply the fish mongers and restaurants in the area.
The trawlers return each day around 5.30pm back to port where they are met by the trawler owners and restaurateurs eager to see the days catch, the fish is unloaded from the trawler and taken to the auction warehouse to be sold.
Garrucha is famous for its red juicy prawns which are packed with flavour, they are a locally delicacy and can be seen on all the menus.
The Eco Farm
It has been a working Ecological farm for 20 years. 3,00 m2 of cultivated land within the Parque Natural, growing vegetables and fruits packed with flavour in season, which is sold to the local community.
Olive oil and honey are also produced on the farm.
The farm can be reached via a steep and winding road which is met by the Rio Aguas which passes through the land. The beautiful crystal clear mountain waters help irrigate the farming land.
